quot;The Pooled Money Investment Board (PMIB) took action today that will affect HCD's bond funded programs. In a unanimous vote the Pooled Money Investment Board voted to freeze disbursements of cash to bond-funded programs until California's budget shortfall is resolved. The Senate will be in session the week of November 17. During this lame-duck session of Congress, a second economic stimulus bill needs to be passed. In September, the House passed a stimulus bill, but the Senate failed to do so. Now, it is up to the Senate to help people in an ever-worsening economy.

California Legislature Meets In Special Session for Budget and Foreclosures Discussions

On Thursday, November 6, 2008, the Legislature returned to Sacramento to convene the Fourth Extraordinary Session, focused on mid-year budget cuts and stemming the foreclosure crisis. In a special session, only legislation on the enumerated topics can be considered by legislators.

NLIHC Pushes Housing in Second Stimulus
The National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) sent a letter to each House and Senate member outlining housing requests for a second stimulus package. The Congress will meet in a lame duck session set to begin on November 17. House and Senate leaders remain optimistic about their ability to pass a second economic stimulus bill.
