CHC Mission Statement

The California Housing Consortium is the statewide ‘big tent’ housing advocacy organization representing the development, building, financial, and public sectors united in a non-partisan effort to advance affordable housing and community development across California. 

CHC's mission is to collaborate among housing providers, business leaders, non-profit organizations, and government at all levels to increase the availability of rental and homeownership housing for low-to-moderate-income Californians.  Our advocacy efforts are focused on creating and preserving sustainable communities that are essential to the state's prosperity.  
As a “big tent” affordable housing advocacy organization CHC is differentiated from other associations because its members believe that through constructive dialogue in roundtable discussions and forums we can work across self-interest boundaries to overcome policy stalemates and achieve an outcome ultimately beneficial to all.   The focus of CHC's public awareness and policy efforts is across three areas essential to improving California's delivery of affordable housing:

• Sustaining Catalytic Public Sector Funding

• Promoting Regulatory Reform

• Encouraging Sensible Land Use Planning

CHC’s purpose is to build consensus across a diverse membership on the myriad issues that influence the production and delivery of affordable rental and homeownership opportunities throughout California.  We do this by facilitating dialogue through,

• Policy Leadership Task Force

• Member Roundtables (to solicit input and develop consensus on housing issues)

• Annual Policy Forum and CA Housing Hall of Fame Event

• Sacramento Lobby Days CHC

CHC Membership/Underwriting – joining CHC via this website is most convenient; we accept membership from individuals and organizations from the private, non-profit, and public sectors at varying scales; for those individuals or organizations who wish to provide annual underwriting support to sustain our education and advocacy efforts and help sponsor roundtables and forums, we offer underwriter levels of support.
