It is said of Peter Calthorpe that "his vision for sustainability is deeply rooted in his belief that we can grow and build in a way that respects the environment." He was named one of 25 "innovators on the cutting edge" by Newsweek for this work in redefining the models of urban revitalization and suburban growth.
After founding the Congress for New Urbanism in 1992, Mr. Calthorpe introduced the concept of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) to the American audience. New Urbanism principles and TOD are now widely accepted as laying the foundation for diverse, economically and environmentally sustainable communities. His numerous honors include appointment to the President's Council on Sustainable Development, and ULI's prestigious "J.C. NicholsPrize for Visionaries in Urban Development."
The fundraising event will include a cocktail reception with hors d'oeuvres and wine, followed by dessert and discussion.
