CHC Urges Legislators to Spare Redevelopment Funding as Budget Deficit Solution

Redevelopment agencies throughout the state leverage their tax increment funding with unprecedented Prop 1C TOD and infill support in order to create critical incentives for building new affordable housing near jobs and transit. A full menu of support for the housing sector includes measures to address the foreclosure and credit crisis, provide new oversight and structural reforms for the GSEs, revise and improve LIHTC regulations, increase bonding capacity, and create a national housing trust fund. The San Diego event will be held on June 2 at the SANDAG offices, more information is available here. 2008 CHC Lobby Day Summary

On Wednesday, March 12, a delegation of CHC members participated in Spring Lobby Day. Following a one-hour briefing in the conference room of the California Association of Counties (1100 K Street), the following CHC members visited with (16) key state representatives on housing-related legislation for the new term: Carol Galante (CHC Policy Leadership Task Force Chair; BRIDGE Housing Corp.
HCD Infill Infrastructure Notice of Funding Available Released

You may download the Department’s explanatory memo, the Final Infill Guidelines, and the NOFA itself at: http://www.hcd.ca.gov/fa/iig/ .
HCD will host workshops for those considering making an application by the April 4 deadline – March 5 (Los Angeles); March 7 (Sacramento); and March 11 (Fresno).
CHC Board and Staff Participate in Affordable Housing Press Conference with Governor Schwarzenegger

press conference organized by Governor Schwarzenegger to highlight the success of Proposition 1C and the importance of state housing programs to stimulate the California economy. The event was held at a BRIDGE Housing Development in Palo Alto held up as an example of how Prop 1C funds are already being used to create much need housing and keep California's
